Microsoft AI Monetization (MAI) is a customer‑first organization dedicated to building the next generation of AI‑powered products that help businesses achieve real outcomes. Our Design, Research & Content team is a creative community on a mission to deliver holistic, trustworthy experiences for Advertisers, Publishers, Sellers, and Consumers at global scale.
We design products that define the AI era—balancing innovation with responsibility, simplicity with power, and experimentation with rigor. Our work reaches billions of people worldwide, and we take pride not only in what we build, but how we build it: grounded in research, evidence, and a deep respect for users.
We are seeking a Principal Product Designer with solid consumer product design, visual design, and storytelling skills to join the Publisher Monetization team within MAI. We are reimagining how publishers and merchants thrive and monetize across human and agent‑driven ecosystems.
As a Principal Product Designer you will bring the technical skills, leadership and passion that will help us to build the next wave of monetization-centered capabilities for publishers and merchants. You can drive the end-to-end process of setting a design vision and delivering the work necessary for innovative zero-to-one products. You have an abundance of positive energy, empathy, and kindness, in addition to being a highly effective communicator. You are flexible and adaptable, with the ability to move quickly to new methodologies, processes, technologies, and products. The right candidate takes the initiative and enjoys building world-class consumer experiences and products in a fast-paced environment. This is a player/coach role; while you will set vision and direction, you are also a maker who can craft high quality design at all stages of the design process. You are actively using AI tooling (e.g. vibe coding) and are excited about leading through the evolution of our design as a discipline.
Microsoft’s mission is to empower every person and every organization on the planet to achieve more. As employees we come together with a growth mindset, innovate to empower others, and collaborate to realize our shared goals. Each day we build on our values of respect, integrity, and accountability to create a culture of inclusion where everyone can thrive at work and beyond.
Starting January 26, 2026, Microsoft AI (MAI) employees who live within a 50- mile commute of a designated Microsoft office in the U.S. or 25-mile commute of a non-U.S., country-specific location are expected to work from the office at least four days per week. This expectation is subject to local law and may vary by jurisdiction.
