Job Description

The London Creative Hub is looking for a Design Technologist to join our studio team and drive innovation in how we create visual content at scale. This role sits at the intersection of creative production and technology — you'll work directly with our studio crews, creatives, and operations teams to build tools, automate workflows, and implement emerging technologies (GenAI, Computer Vision, Virtual Production) that make content creation faster, smarter, and more consistent.

You'll act as the bridge between creative and engineering disciplines — understanding technical problems from an artistic perspective and delivering solutions that our teams can actually use on set and in post-production.

Key job responsibilities
Workflow Automation: Design, develop, and maintain semi-automated production workflows for in-house video and stills creation — including virtual production pipelines and GenAI-assisted processes
Creative Tooling: Build and maintain a centralised suite of creative tools, scripts, and automation that improve crew productivity and reduce manual repetition
Bridge Role: Act as the connective tissue between creative teams (photographers, videographers, art directors, stylists) and engineering/tech teams — translating creative needs into technical solutions and vice versa
Prototyping & Innovation: Research, prototype, and implement the latest industry trends (GenAI, CV, AR/VR, real-time rendering) to expand studio production capabilities and improve efficiency
On-Set Collaboration: Work directly with studio production teams — observing workflows, identifying friction points, and delivering practical solutions that integrate seamlessly into existing processes
Quality & Consistency: Develop technical solutions that support creative consistency across high-volume output — ensuring visual standards are maintained at scale

A day in the life
A typical day includes coding and developing tools, workflows, and automation to improve the creative crew's experience and increase productivity. You'll spend time on the studio floor observing production workflows, identifying opportunities, then returning to your desk to prototype and build solutions. This role is focused on in-house content creation — spanning stills, video, virtual production, and GenAI workflows. You'll collaborate daily with production teams, creative leads, and operations, balancing technical rigour with creative empathy.

- Online portfolio demonstrating technically-driven creative solutions
- Experience developing polished, engaging, and functional UX prototypes or production tools
- Proven track record collaborating with creative, production, and technical partners across disciplines

- Familiarity with Node.js / Python for server-side logic
- Experience with databases and AWS services (DynamoDB, ElasticSearch, Redshift)
- Experience using AWS in production environments
- Understanding of system architecture (how front-end integrates with backend services)

Preferred qualifications

- Experience with TouchDesigner for virtual production, real-time visual workflows, or interactive studio installations
- Experience with GenAI tools and workflows (Stable Diffusion, Midjourney, RunwayML, ComfyUI, or similar)
- Knowledge of Computer Vision (CV) applications in content creation
- Experience with virtual production technologies (Unreal Engine, real-time rendering, LED volume stages)
