As a Principal Software Engineer in the Microsoft Specialized Cloud team, you will help development for a variety of Edge Computing products and platforms. You will be responsible for bringing in the latest Azure offering in Customer's Edge locations including disconnected locations. You will get the opportunity to define the limits of Cloud and Edge Computing and work with customers to solve real-world problems. Responsibilities- Design and integrate highly reliable physical and software defined storage and file systems components for both Windows and Linux Operating Systems
- Ability to develop resilient clustering and virtualization solutions using Windows and Linux based clustering and hypervisors
- Design and architect scalable and distributed systems of Cloud Services for Managing Clustering, Hypervisor and storage on the edge
- Lead, raise standards, and foster data-driven and collaborative culture for the team
- Able to analyze, debug and clearly articulate complex issues and work with new technologies including AI
- Partner with product teams across company to manage dependencies, jointly deliver updates, and continuously improve engineering capabilities
Qualifications- 10+ years of experience in Software Development in distributed systems and Operating Systems.Bachelor’s/master's degree or equivalent in Computer science or related field required
- 5+ years of experience designing, developing, deploying, and monitoring Failover Clustering, Resilient Storage Technologies, Hyper-V management
- Proven ability to work with SAN(iSCSI and FC) storage and ability to debug complex interoperability issues between host and SAN infra
- A strong Computer Science background with solid C#, Rust, Java, C/C++ programming, debugging skills is highly desiredGreat design and problem-solving skills, with a strong bias for architecting for performance, scalability, security, and reliability
- Deep understanding of efficient data structures and algorithms
- Act as a Designated Responsible Individual (DRI) and guides other engineers by developing and following the playbook, working on call to monitor service for degradation, downtime, or interruptions, alerting stakeholders about status and initiates actions to restore
- Experience with AI/ML and LLMs is highly preferred
- 5+ years of experience in systems level software development in C/C++/Rust
- 5+ years of Systems Engineering experience with multithreaded programming, synchronization, locking, etc
- Knowledge of advanced data structures, including, but not limited to: BTrees, Hash Tables- 2+ years of experience with kernel and device driver development in Linux or Windows.
- Proven experience designing solutions utilizing Failover Clustering, Storage Spaces, Software Defined Storage, Hyper-V and Windows Server technologies.
- Experience with storage/file systems in Windows, Linux, Kubernetes
- Experience in analyzing storage performance and functionality
- Familiarity with current and emerging storage technologies.
