Research Scientist, Human-AI Interaction, DeepMind

• Develop and lead a novel research agenda addressing high-impact questions regarding the future of Human-AI Interactions.
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary colleagues from DMI and DeepMind in developing and executing research. Develop relationships with Google’s product and policy teams to translate research findings into company and global  impact. 
• Design, conduct, and analyze mixed-methods studies involving human-subjects, including lab studies, surveys, field experiments, and other appropriate methods for evaluating Human-AI Interactions. 
• Develop artifacts for exploring and advancing the future of Human-AI Interactions, including hardware and/or software prototypes, new interaction techniques and interface designs, novel metrics, benchmarks, agents, simulations, and other methods and artifacts for investigating and advancing the field.  
• Communicate research findings internally and externally via peer-reviewed scientific publications, whitepapers and tech reports, presentations, keynotes, workshops, blogs, and other media.

Minimum qualifications:

• PhD degree in Computer Science, Human-Centered Computing, Cognitive Science, or a related field.
• 6 years post-PhD experience conducting research on topics relating to Human-Centered AI (e.g., postdoctoral work, faculty experience, industrial research, etc.).

Preferred qualifications:

• Experience communicating complex scientific concepts to academic and general audiences.
• Deep familiarity with relevant academic literature and commercial innovations in AI, HCI, and related areas.
• Strong track record of peer-reviewed publications in venues for AI, ML, HCI, or social science research.
• Proficiency in developing prototypes for exploring novel modes of Human-Computer Interaction (software or hardware).
