Job Description

The EC2 Nitro platform powers the world’s largest, fastest-growing, and most feature-rich cloud computing environment. Designed by AWS from the ground up, Nitro leverages a fully customized stack of hardware, firmware, and software to deliver unparalleled virtualization at a global scale. Within the EC2 Nitro organization, the MLS organization is tasked with developing the next generation of EC2 Supercomputers, optimized for high-performance training and inference workloads.



Key job responsibilities
The Software Development Engineer on the MLS UltraServer Adoption and Availability (URSA) team will build and maintain software and services that ensure efficient provisioning and delivery of UltraServer compute to customers, and that raise the bar for the quality, availability, observability and performance that EC2 is known for.

In this role you will directly own key business outcomes and trade-off decisions, and work with a broad and deep group of technical peers and stakeholders from hardware, firmware, software and operations teams to execute for our customers.

The ideal candidate has a solid understanding of computer science fundamentals, and experience in the design and development of large-scale distributed or embedded software applications. In-depth knowledge of ML frameworks, cluster management or embedded systems are preferred.

Basic qualifications

- 3+ years of non-internship professional software development experience
- 2+ years of non-internship design or architecture (design patterns, reliability and scaling) of new and existing systems experience
- 1+ years of programming using a modern programming language such as Java, C++, or C#, including object-oriented design experience
- Bachelor's degree or foreign equivalent in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, or a related field

Preferred qualifications

- 3+ years of full software development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, and operations experience
- Knowledge of computer architecture, operating systems, and parallel computing

The base salary range for this position is listed below. Your Amazon package will include sign-on payments and restricted stock units (RSUs). Final compensation will be determined based on factors including experience, qualifications, and location.
