The Databases organization delivers trusted, scalable operational AI ready databases that power application development across cloud, hybrid, and on premises environments. Azure Managed Redis (AMR) is Microsoft's next-generation, first-party Redis service on Azure. The service powers mission-critical applications for thousands of customers and represents the future platform for Redis on Azure. The engineering team is responsible for building and operating hyperscale cloud services that deliver enterprise-grade reliability, security, performance, and customer experience.
We are looking for a Senior Software Engineer to help design, build, and operate large-scale distributed systems that power Azure Managed Redis. You will work on control plane services, reliability engineering, security, observability, and customer-facing capabilities that enable customers to run business-critical workloads at global scale.
This role combines software engineering, cloud platform development, and production ownership. Successful candidates are passionate about distributed systems, operational excellence, and building services that customers trust.

- Design and develop highly scalable cloud services and microservices that power Azure Managed Redis.
- Drive platform modernization initiatives involving AKS, .NET, cloud-native architectures, automation, and service scalability.
- Own services end-to-end, from architecture and implementation through deployment and live-site operations.
- Drive secure-by-default engineering practices.
- Partner with engineers, architects, PMs and customer-facing teams across multiple geographies.
- Mentor engineers and contribute to a culture of technical excellence and operational accountability.
Required/Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or related technical field AND 7+ years technical engineering experience with coding in languages including, but not limited to, C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, or Python OR equivalent experience

This position will be required to pass the Microsoft Cloud background check upon hire/transfer and every two years thereafter
Preferred/Additional Qualifications
- 5+ years of software engineering experience building large scale production services.
- Strong understanding of cloud services, networking, APIs, storage systems, and service reliability concepts.
- Experience debugging complex production issues and driving root-cause analysis.
- Experience with CI/CD, automated testing, telemetry, and operational excellence practices.
