Job Description

At Netflix, our mission is to entertain the world. Together, we are writing the next episode - pushing the boundaries of storytelling, global fandom and making the unimaginable a reality. We are a dream team obsessed with the uncomfortable excitement of discovering what happens when you merge creativity, intuition and cutting-edge technology. Come be a part of what’s next.

About Content and Business Products Engineering organization

Content and Business Products Engineering builds the products and services used by our internal and external creative partners, producing and managing our global content. Our products enable the entire workflow of content production and promotion, from pitch to play, and provide innovative new ways to develop and manage entertainment at scale.

We are hiring for this role across the following CBP Engineering teams:

  • Studio Production Engineering: In this team, you will have a direct impact on how the Netflix studio creates and produces shows, such as “The Witcher”, “The Crown” and “Stranger Things” on a global scale. With an increasing slate of original content being produced every year, our products manage billions of dollars worth of content-spend.

  • Content Infrastructure & Solutions: Content Infrastructure & Solutions (CIS) teams build platforms to empower CBP’s engineers to be innovative and agile in supporting our massive global content production needs in an ever-growing complex software landscape. The CIS offerings built in the Warsaw hub are a platform for massive-scale media processing (1, 2) and media storage infrastructure (1, 2), used across all Netflix productions and licensed content.

About Games Engineering

Games Lifecycle Applications & Tools teams are part of a Netflix Games Engineering organization. We are responsible for tools and infrastructure that makes launching games on Netflix possible. What we build allows internal and external game studios to launch games efficiently and with confidence.

Teams in Poland are responsible for two areas:

  • Game Lifecycle Applications: project and release management applications and shared components used by the applications.

  • Games Delivery and Release: ingestion pipelines and developer tools.

Content Promotion & Distribution Engineering

This team directly impacts our business users and consumers by building products that allow us to manage our global entertainment catalog and next-generation off-service experiences.

This role is based in Warsaw and our teams work in a hybrid-working model.

Your Day-to-Day

  • Work cross-functionally to build, test, deploy, and launch backend services that operationalize our workflows at scale.

  • Participate in product reviews and team meetings, providing technical insight. Help scope, estimate, and prioritize between conflicting needs.

  • Evaluate new technologies and approaches to streamline and improve our rapid application development tooling and conventions.

  • Regularly learn and influence new systems and tools as the Netflix platform and ecosystem evolve.

  • Participate in our on-call rotation and lead incident reviews. Flexible scheduling or coverage accommodations can be supported where appropriate.

  • Effectively communicate complex technical issues and solutions to stakeholders through written and verbal channels.

  • Live company values, actively engage in team discussions and provide mentorship while holding the team accountable for collective standards.

What We Are Looking For

  • Experience architecting, building, and operating resilient, highly-available, high-scale, low-latency microservices in production environments, with a track record of ensuring high availability, fault tolerance, and performance.

  • Proficiency with gRPC, GraphQL, or RESTful API design and implementation, and relational and non-relational data stores.

  • Recent proficiency with Java, C#, or other OO programming languages with a solid understanding of OO design principles, concurrency, multi-threading, performance tuning, and observability.

  • Ability to proactively describe complex technical concepts to a variety of stakeholders, driving conversations and decisions through written and/or verbal communication.

  • Demonstrated capability for independent action, ownership, and effective collaboration.

  • Ability to recognize, communicate, address and lead technical improvements as part of the roadmap.

  • Capability to collaborate across backend and UI engineers, product designers, product managers, and users to understand user needs and determine appropriate solutions.

  • Ability to identify business opportunities that positively impact the organization's goals.

  • Adaptability to work across different layers of the stack or different domains to assist team members when needed.

Nice to Have

  • Interest in working closely with UI engineers, UX designers, and product managers to deliver reliable and performant services that meet user needs.

  • Experience working full stack, with skills in frontend and backend development, and openness to contributing to both areas when necessary.

  • Experience creating platforms, tools, or infrastructure for engineers, with a focus on understanding their needs and designing long-term solutions.

  • Experience in storage or media processing domains, in observability platforms, or experience working with or as SREs.

  • Experience developing build tooling, delivery automation, and self-service infrastructure tools.

  • Experience building software and distributed systems for media production and/or distribution workflows.
