Job Description

This is a Sr. Principal Applied Scientist role within the Advertising Full Funnel Agentic Intelligence and Models team, designed to drive foundational model innovation for Amazon Ads. The team is building next-generation agentic AI systems for advertising. This hire will serve as a key technical leader bringing rare low-level model development expertise to Amazon Ads. This is a high-visibility, high-impact role requiring deep expertise in multimodal foundation models, model architectures, and training methodologies at scale.

Key job responsibilities
* Define long-term scientific vision for advertising technologies, translating complex customer needs into strategic roadmaps
* Design and implement innovative machine learning and generative AI solutions across multiple advertising product domains
* Mentor and develop scientific talent, fostering a culture of excellence and continuous innovation
* Collaborate with senior leadership to influence technical direction and strategic decision-making
* Establish partnerships with academic institutions to drive cutting-edge research and talent development

Basic qualifications

- Doctoral degree in Computer Science, Machine Learning, Artificial Intelligence, or related technical discipline
- Extensive expertise in machine learning, generative AI, and large language model technologies
- Proven track record of translating advanced research into production-ready solutions
- Strong publication record in peer-reviewed conferences and journals
- Demonstrated ability to communicate complex technical concepts to diverse audiences

Preferred qualifications

- Experience in advertising technology, recommendation systems, or e-commerce platforms
- Expertise in multi-modal AI systems and advanced natural language processing
- Background in developing scalable machine learning infrastructure
- Experience leading cross-functional scientific research initiatives
- Demonstrated ability to mentor and develop scientific talent

The base salary range for this position is listed below. Your Amazon package will include sign-on payments and restricted stock units (RSUs). Final compensation will be determined based on factors including experience, qualifications, and location.
