Senior and Staff PMs lead high-impact product initiatives, balancing strategic vision with hands-on problem solving to create integrated learner, partner, and enterprise-level experiences. They partner closely with Engineering, Design, Data, and Business stakeholders to deliver innovative solutions in an evolving, AI-driven education landscape.

Job Overview:

As a Staff Product Manager, you will play a pivotal role in shaping Coursera’s product vision, delivering exceptional learner and partner experiences, and driving measurable business impact. You will operate at the intersection of strategic thinking and hands-on execution, navigating ambiguity while influencing cross-functional teams.

• Creator-Centric UX Thinking: You think in experiences, not just features. You have a strong point of view on what good authoring and creation tools feel like — and the patience to pressure-test that instinct with real creators until the product earns trust. You can speak fluently with design partners and push back when something that works technically doesn't work humanly.
• Revenue Awareness: You understand how the products you build connect to the business. Whether it's creator retention, content quality driving learner outcomes, or new monetization surfaces — you can draw a line from product decisions to commercial impact, and you use that line to prioritize.
• Customer-Centric Curiosity: Exhibit deep curiosity to understand customers and all elements influencing their experience, offering comprehensive, integrated solutions that address real needs.
• Thriving in Ambiguity: Operate effectively in uncertain, fast-changing environments, as often found in startup-like situations.
• Balanced Skills vs. Domain Experience: While domain expertise is beneficial, strong intellectual capacity, curiosity, proactiveness, and solid foundational product skills enable quick adaptation even without prior domain exposure.
• Strategic & Tactical Agility: Seamlessly switch between defining long-term vision and deep-diving into execution details when required.
• IC Excellence: As an individual contributor, comfortably navigate between strategy and execution to deliver impact.
• Integrated Experience Design: A track record of designing end-to-end integrated experiences is a strong plus.
• Tool Familiarity: Familiarity with tools in the PM space, such as Jira, Figma or generative AI tools, though tool-specific experience is less crucial. A capable PM with strong core skills will learn quickly.
• Speed of Innovation: Demonstrates the ability to rapidly prototype, test, and iterate solutions to keep pace with evolving customer needs and emerging technologies. Balances speed with rigor to deliver impactful outcomes quickly.

Responsibilities:

• As a Staff Product Manager, you will define and drive product strategy and own the roadmap for a high priority area of the Coursera platform, such as mobile, AI-powered assessment or agentic enterprise integration. 
• Own the end-to-end content creation experience for Udemy & Coursera  from how instructors and creators author content, to how AI assists and adapts that content for learners — defining what "great" looks like at every step of that journey.
• Make independent product calls in a fast-moving environment, bringing cross-functional partners along through clear reasoning and well-structured communication rather than consensus-by-committee.
• Translate customer insights and market trends into integrated solutions that can scale to serve millions of learners and customers around the world.
• Lead execution from ideation and analysis  through development and launch, delivering measurable outcomes.
• Partner with Engineering, Design, and Data teams to deliver AI-powered product features and experiences.
• Leverage data and customer feedback to inform decisions and continuously improve.
• Mentor peers and contribute to building a high-performing product organisation.

Basic Qualifications: 

• You have experience building, using, or experimenting with AI-driven products, particularly in the areas of workflow automation, conversational AI, decision support, or agentic AI, and transitioning from traditional UI to AI-driven or AI-first product.
• You have taken a product from zero to launch in an environment where the path wasn't clear. You had to define the problem, make the bet, build the team's confidence, and ship it. You can point to what worked, what didn't, and what you'd do differently.
• You have a high bar across the board - from your own contributions to the people you work with, to the products you work on.

Preferred Qualification: 

• You are the product leader who inspires colleagues to think bigger, look beyond safe bets and tackle challenges with conviction. You are a builder, not an optimizer.
• You have a strong aesthetic sensibility and deep respect for craft in UX. You've worked closely with designers — not just as a stakeholder, but as a genuine creative partner — and your products show it.
• You understand creator psychology. Whether it's course authors, instructional designers, or subject-matter experts, you know what makes creation tools feel enabling rather than obstructive, and you've shipped products that creators actually want to use.
• You are commercially literate. You can connect product choices to revenue outcomes without reducing every decision to a business case. You know when to push for a quality call that doesn't have an immediate ROI, and when that's actually the wrong call.
• You are energized about solving hard problems and navigating ambiguity and rapid technology change.
• You are deeply curious about customers and the positive impact your product could have on their lives.  You dive deep into data and feedback  to ground your understanding of their needs and experience using your products.
• You feel a sense of responsibility and urgency to invent the future of AI as a force for unlocking human potential and expanding opportunity.

Compensation

US Zone 2 - 4

$212,000 – $265,000 USD

The range(s) listed above is the expected annual base salary for this role, subject to change.

Salary is just one component of Coursera’s total rewards package. All regular employees are also eligible for a bonus program and equity in the form of RSU’s.

A number of factors are taken into account when determining pay, which includes: job level, location, training/education, business need, skill set and internal equity. 

Current Zone Locations:

• Zone 1 – San Francisco Bay Area only
• Zone 2 – New York City Metro and Seattle Metro
• Zone 3 – CA (outside of SF Bay Area), CO, CT, DC, GA, IL, MA, MD, NY/NJ (outside of NYC Metro), OR, RI, TX, VA, WA (outside of Seattle Metro)
• Zone 4 – All other US locations not listed in Zones 1–3
