Amazon Robotics is seeking broad, curious engineers to join our team. We holistically design, build, and deliver end-to-end robotic systems. Our team is also responsible for core infrastructure and tools that serve as the backbone of our robotic applications, enabling roboticists, machine learning scientists, software engineers, and hardware engineers to collaborate and deploy systems in the field.

Key job responsibilities
You'll be a key member of a software engineering team that designs, prototypes, integrates, tests and launches robotic applications throughout Amazon's fulfillment centers. You will partner with applied scientists and project managers. Your responsibilities will include collaborating with other teams across the globe.

Work includes:
- Participate in all phases of new developments including concept, design, architecting, prototyping, and production
- Implementation, performance optimization and maintenance of software
- Collaborate with software, hardware, and operations customers
- Contribute to software design reviews and team best practices

About the team
The Vulcan Pick team is focusing the technology to partially automate the picking activities in existing Amazon Fulfillment Centers. The interdisciplinary team is composed of members from wide range of disciplines including software development engineers, hardware/mechanical/electrical engineers, applied scientists and system engineers. Formed in early 2022, the team has deployed multiple systems to Amazon warehouses and performed more than ~100,000 picks to date.

Basic qualifications

- Bachelor's degree in computer science or equivalent
- Experience programming with at least one modern language such as Java, C++, or C# including object-oriented design
- Knowledge of professional software engineering & best practices for full software development life cycle, including coding standards, software architectures, code reviews, source control management, continuous deployments, testing, and operational excellence
- Knowledge of one or more scripting languages (e.g., Python, Ruby, Perl)
- Knowledge of computer architecture, operating systems, and parallel computing
- Experience with a Linux development environment, multithreading and concurrency

Preferred qualifications

- Master's degree in computer science or equivalent
- Experience with full software development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, and operations
- Background in Computer Vision, Machine Learning or Robotics
- Experience with a robotics software framework, such as ROS or an equivalent toolkit
- Experience with designing, building, deploying and maintaining scalable and highly available systems
- Hands-on expertise in many disparate technologies, from front-end user interfaces to back-end systems
