Manage, develop, and build a small HR team of approximately 2–3 people, potentially distributed across multiple countries and time zones
Learn Coram’s existing HR infrastructure, systems, policies, and programs and identify opportunities to strengthen and scale them
Oversee payroll, benefits, employee administration, onboarding, offboarding, and other core HR operations
Own and refine performance management, including performance cycles, employee feedback, manager enablement, and performance improvement
Partner with leadership on compensation, promotions, leveling, organizational changes, and other employee matters
Advise managers on complex employee relations issues and lead internal investigations, ensuring fair, consistent, and well-documented resolutions
Own HR compliance across Coram, monitoring federal, state, and local employment requirements and ensuring policies and practices evolve as the company grows
Maintain and continuously update employee handbooks, HR policies, and SOPs across the states and countries where Coram operates
Oversee key HR compliance audits and reporting, including payroll, I-9s, benefits, workplace safety, EEO-1, OSHA, and ACA requirements
Partner closely with Finance, Recruiting, and company leadership on headcount planning and broader people initiatives
Evaluate and optimize our HR technology stack, leveraging automation, integrations, and AI-enabled tools to improve efficiency and scalability
Use HR data and employee feedback to identify trends, surface issues, and help leadership make informed people decisions
Remain hands-on and willing to jump into the details when needed
Skills and qualifications:
8+ years of progressive HR experience with broad exposure across multiple HR functions
Experience working within a growing organization of approximately 200–500 employees, where you’ve had responsibility across multiple facets of HR
Experience managing and developing a team of approximately 2–3+ people
Strong experience across HR operations, employee relations, performance management, compensation, payroll, benefits, compliance, and employee lifecycle management
Experience owning or significantly contributing to performance management and compensation review processes
Experience supporting employees and managers across multiple locations and time zones
Proven experience managing employment compliance across multiple states, with specific familiarity in complex regulatory environments (e.g., California, New York, Illinois).
Experience using modern HR technology, including HRIS, payroll, benefits, performance management, and other people systems
Comfortable leveraging automation, integrations, AI, and emerging technologies to streamline HR workflows and reduce manual work
Strong judgment and the ability to independently navigate complex employee and organizational situations
Experience partnering directly with executives and senior leaders
Comfortable operating in a fast-paced startup environment with evolving priorities
Excellent communication, organization, and stakeholder-management skills
