Software Engineer II

The CEAI Data Science and AI Engineering Platform team is seeking passionate full stack developers and AI practitioners to join agile, cross-functional teams working on cutting-edge model evaluation frameworks, optimization pipelines, and experimentation platforms that power Microsoft's AI ecosystem. 

We are looking for a Software Engineer II (Full Stack with AI) to design, develop, and maintain scalable web applications while leveraging modern AI technologies to build intelligent, enterprise-grade solutions. This role combines good full-stack engineering expertise with practical experience in Generative AI, Large Language Models (LLMs), and AI-powered application development.

• Design, develop, and maintain end-to-end full-stack applications using modern frontend and backend technologies.
• Build responsive and intuitive user interfaces using frameworks such as React, Angular, or similar, ensuring good user experience.
• Develop scalable backend services, REST APIs, and microservices using technologies such as C#, .NET, Python, Java, or Node.js.
• Design and optimize relational and NoSQL databases, ensuring performance, scalability, and data integrity.
• Build and deploy cloud-native applications using Microsoft Azure services including App Service, Azure Functions, Azure SQL, Storage, Service Bus, Event Hub, Key Vault, and Azure Kubernetes Service (AKS).
• Integrate Generative AI capabilities into applications using Large Language Models (LLMs), Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG), prompt engineering, embeddings, and vector databases.
• Develop AI-powered features such as chatbots, copilots, intelligent search, document processing, recommendation systems, and workflow automation.
• Build and integrate AI agents capable of planning, tool calling, memory management, and enterprise workflow automation.
• Implement secure authentication and authorization using Azure Active Directory, OAuth, OpenID Connect, and role-based access control.
• Build CI/CD pipelines using Azure DevOps or GitHub Actions and automate testing, deployment, and monitoring.
• Collaborate with UX designers, product managers, architects, and cross-functional engineering teams to deliver high-quality software.
• Write clean, maintainable, testable, and well-documented code following engineering good practices.
• Participate in code reviews, performance optimization, debugging, production support, and continuous improvement initiatives.
• Apply Responsible AI principles while designing AI-powered applications, ensuring fairness, privacy, security, compliance, and governance.
• Stay current with emerging technologies in cloud computing, AI, software architecture, and modern development practices.

Required Qualifications:

• Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, Mathematics, or a related technical field
• OR equivalent professional experience.

Preferred Qualifications:

Full Stack Development

• • 4+ years of professional software development experience.
  • Good experience in one or more programming languages:
    • C#
    • .NET
    • Python
    • Java
    • JavaScript/TypeScript
  • Experience building frontend applications using:
    • React
    • Angular
    • Vue.js (optional)
  • Experience developing backend RESTful APIs and microservices.
  • Hands-on experience with Azure data platforms, including Azure Data Lake Storage Gen2, Azure Databricks, Azure Synapse Analytics, Microsoft Fabric.
  • Experience working with SQL Server, Azure SQL, PostgreSQL, MySQL, or NoSQL databases.
  • Good understanding of software architecture, design patterns, object-oriented programming, and distributed systems.

Cloud & DevOps

• • Experience developing cloud-native applications on Microsoft Azure.
  • Hands-on experience with:
    • Azure App Service
    • Azure Functions
    • Azure SQL
    • Azure Storage
    • Azure Service Bus
    • Azure Event Hub
    • Azure Key Vault
    • Azure Kubernetes Service (AKS)
    • Docker
    • Kubernetes
  • Experience with CI/CD pipelines using Azure DevOps or GitHub Actions.
  • Knowledge of monitoring and observability tools such as Azure Monitor, Application Insights, and Log Analytics.

AI & Intelligent Applications

• • 1–3+ years of experience working with Generative AI technologies.
  • Experience integrating OpenAI, Azure OpenAI, or other LLM platforms into enterprise applications.
