Job Description Summary

The Clinical Development leader is responsible for clinical management of in-house clinical research across sites for the GEHC Ultrasound Businesses.

Join the Global Ultrasound business at GE HealthCare and help create high-value experiences for key opinion leaders (KOLs), research collaborators, strategic partners, and clinical users who visit the Waukesha office. This role owns the planning, coordination, execution, and continuous improvement of collaborator and partner visits, including roadmap discussions, innovation reviews, product demonstrations, and internal scanning sessions with sonographers and clinicians.

Essential Responsibilities

Duties include (but are not limited to):

· Own Clinical Quality across all internal scanning sites: protocols and SOPs, study scanning, sonographer onboarding, QA, clinical escalation. 

· Intake and vet new protocols for clinical executability; return incomplete protocols to program teams and release version-controlled protocol packages (protocol card, configuration sheet, quality criteria, training materials)

· Manage clinical portion of AI scanning: complete clinical study documentation, monitor image quality and deviations; manage protocol change control, retraining, and readiness/quality records

· Ensure compliance with the study protocol, external standards (regulations, GCP, IRB requirements), and internal GEHC processes

· Serve as real-time clinical escalation point during scan hours, with authority to stop or pause scanning for safety, protocol ambiguity, unqualified staffing, or equipment mismatch

· Manage sonographer pool, including training and development of sonographer pool; clinically vet contract sonographer candidates and qualify each sonographer by protocol/system before independent scanning

· Accountability for study ultrasound system readiness, including hands-on feasibility testing on the exact system, software, probes, and data/export workflow before protocol release

· Assess new-site clinical readiness, provide clinical go/no-go for protocol launches, and support go-live and first cases

· Conduct training and provide guidance to a large study staff

· Implement process improvement activities as needed 

· Provide support to Study Coordinators and Research Program Integrators as needed

· Serve as a Subject Matter Expert (SME) for sonographers at global sites executing similar protocols


This role requires physical presence in the GEHC facility in Waukesha, and occasional travel to other GEHC facilities. 


Qualifications/Requirements:

1. Bachelor's degree related field

2. ARDMS or equivalent certification 

3. 6+ years sonography experience

4. Proficient at Microsoft Office (Excel, Outlook, Word)

5. Experience training, precepting, or assessing competency of sonographers

6. Strong organizational skills

7. Excellent communication skills (written and verbal)

8. Must be willing to work in our Waukesha, WI GEHC facility with occasional travel to other GEHC sites. 

9. Hands-on experience across multiple ultrasound platforms and probes, with ability to identify system configuration and image-quality issues


Desired Characteristics:

1. Previous Clinical Research experience

2. Working knowledge of GCP and human-subjects research requirements

3. Lead sonographer, clinical educator, or clinical applications specialist experience

4. Multiple ARDMS specialty registrations

5. Experience with AI/ML image data collection or DICOM export workflows

6. Experience onboarding or overseeing contract sonographers
