Co-Op, Development Operations AI & Automation Enablement

This is what you will do:

The AI Solutions & Development Operations Analyst Co-op supports the Development Operations Enterprise Optimization team in advancing digital transformation, AI-enabled ways of working, data analytics, automation, and operational excellence initiatives across Development Operations.

This role combines data analytics, AI solution development, business process improvement, and technology enablement. The successful candidate will work closely with business stakeholders to identify opportunities to improve efficiency, automate manual processes, develop AI-powered tools, and create reporting and insights that support decision-making across the organization.

The Co-op will gain hands-on experience building and applying AI and automation technologies and data analytics platforms to solve real business challenges while supporting company-wide priority areas.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, test, and maintain AI-powered tools and solutions that improve efficiency and user experience across Development Operations.

• Apply Generative AI technologies, Microsoft Copilot, Power Platform, and other digital tools to automate workflows and business processes.

• Develop and maintain Power BI dashboards, reports, and analytics solutions that provide actionable business insights.

• Support the development of frameworks to improve data driven decision-making.

• Partner with business stakeholders to identify opportunities for process optimization, automation, and AI adoption.

• Build prototypes, proof-of-concepts, and minimum viable products (MVPs) 

• Perform data analysis, data quality assessments, and governance activities to improve reporting accuracy and reliability.

• Develop business process maps, user guides, training materials, presentations, and documentation for new solutions.

• Support company goals related to operational excellence, digital transformation, and future-of-work programs.

• Conduct research and benchmarking on emerging AI technologies and recommend potential business applications.

• Support change management, communications, and training activities related to the adoption of AI-enabled tools and solutions.

You will need to have:

• Experience with data analytics and visualization tools such as Power BI, Tableau, or similar platforms.

• Experience using and building AI tools and technologies, including Generative AI applications.

• Knowledge of data management fundamentals and FAIR data principles.

• Advanced knowledge of Microsoft 365 applications and collaboration platforms.

• Strong analytical thinking and problem-solving skills.

• Ability to learn new technologies quickly and work in a fast-paced environment.

• Strong communication, customer service, and collaboration skills.

• High attention to detail and commitment to data quality.

• Experience with project management and balancing competing priorities

We would prefer you to have:

• Degree in computer science (or minor) - Must be enrolled and graduating close to the contract end date or after.

• Experience with Microsoft Power Platform (Power Apps, Power Automate, Power BI, Copilot Studio).

• Experience developing automations, workflows, chatbots, or AI-powered solutions.

• Experience with Python, JavaScript, C#, SQL, or similar programming languages.

• Experience with prompt engineering and Generative AI solution design.

• Experience with cloud platforms such as Microsoft Azure.

• Experience building prototypes and proof-of-concepts using low-code/no-code development tools.

• Experience with vibe coding and AI-assisted software development, leveraging tools such as GitHub Copilot, Microsoft Copilot, Cursor, Windsurf, Claude Code, or similar technologies to rapidly prototype and build solutions.

• Above average experience with Microsoft Office applications including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Visio, and Teams.

• Knowledge of the pharmaceutical industry, drug development, and clinical trial operations

• Experience pitching, presenting and translating complex ideas to a wide audience

What to Expect:

This role is a 12-month paid contract position, which starts in January 2027. Our position will be based in our Mississauga head office and allow for flexible working arrangements working both onsite (2-3 times per week) and virtually.

Annual base salary for this position ranges from $41,495.20 to $54,462.45. AstraZeneca is committed to providing fair and equitable compensation opportunities to all colleagues. Our compensation policies and practices have been designed to allow colleagues to progress through the salary range over time as they progress in their role. The range provided in this posting represents an offer pay range used in a majority of situations. The base pay offered will vary depending on multiple individualized factors, including the candidate's skills and experience, job-related knowledge, and other specific business and organizational needs. In some cases, offers outside the range may also be considered to address unique circumstances.

In addition, our permanent positions offer an annual Variable Pay Bonus/Short Term Incentive opportunity as well as eligibility to participate in our equity-based long-term incentive program (if applicable to role). Benefits offered for permanent roles include a competitive Flex Benefits & Retirement Savings Program, 4 weeks’ paid vacation, and annual Personal Days. Fixed Term Contract/Temporary positions (excluding students) are offered a Contract Benefits Program.
