Join the engineering team as a founding-level engineer responsible for the agent layer at a flexible-work marketplace and SaaS company. You will build production agent systems that connect with real-world business workflows, set patterns for how agents are built and improved, and work closely with company leadership.
Own the agent layer end to end, including context systems, self-learning, evaluations, the agent harness, and the meta-harness.
Build a knowledge base that accumulates information about undocumented systems and improves future integrations.
Develop workflows that detect production failures, diagnose causes, and recover autonomously.
Establish how agents are built, measured, and improved across the platform.
Create tools and processes that enable teams to build, evaluate, and evolve agents quickly.
Help grow the team and take on increasing leadership of agentic systems.
Two to nine years of professional software engineering experience, with a degree completed or in progress in engineering, computer science, or a quantitative field.
Recent experience building and shipping agentic software in production, ideally in an early-stage startup environment.
Strong experience with context engineering, evaluation-driven iteration, agent tracing, and production agent harnesses.
Experience building systems that learn from accumulated knowledge or autonomously detect, diagnose, and recover from failures.
Familiarity with TypeScript, Effect-TS, PostgreSQL, large language models, and agent evaluation tools.
Annual salary range: $150,000 to $300,000 USD. Visa sponsorship is available, including O-1 sponsorship.
On-site in San Francisco, California, five days per week. US-based candidates with a concrete relocation plan to San Francisco may also be considered.
