Job Description

At Franklin Templeton, we believe success is built through powerful partnerships. As a forward thinking asset manager, we build dynamic relationships with clients, understand their goals, and navigate complex markets together. We leverage cutting edge strategies and deep insights to unlock opportunities for long term wealth creation. Our talented, global teams bring expertise that is both broad and unique.

From our welcoming, inclusive, and supportive culture to our globally diverse business, we offer opportunities not only to help you reach your potential, but also to contribute to our clients’ success.

About the Department

We are looking for a senior leader to build and grow the internal AI community and open source-style reuse ecosystem. This person will specify the platform, governance, contribution model, community rituals, and incentive structures that allow teams to share and co-leverage AI software components, agent skills, reusable patterns, sandboxes, and practical know-how. The ideal candidate combines AI and engineering fluency, developer platform product judgment, community-building excellence, and the organizational influence needed to turn sharing into a celebrated craft.

How you will add value

  • Specify and build the internal open-source mechanism for AI assets, including source code control, contribution workflows, documentation standards, ownership models, quality tiers, and release practices.
  • Create a searchable and trusted repository of AI software components, agent skills, prompts, workflows, reference architectures, evaluation patterns, reusable data-access patterns, and implementation examples.
  • Establish a sandbox environment where practitioners can safely explore, test, adapt, and demonstrate reusable AI components before adopting them in production contexts.
  • Design and operate an AI-driven intake or “inbox” that translates business needs into relevant assets, patterns, maintainers, contributors, and candidate reuse paths.
  • Build and manage the community forum, communication channels, office hours, showcases, working groups, and contributor onboarding pathways.
  • Kindle early adoption through targeted pilots, executive sponsorship, internal storytelling, contributor recognition, and practical demonstrations of reuse value.
  • Curate and maintain the quality of contributions so the platform remains useful, navigable, current, and trusted.
  • Work with leaders and HR to create incentives, recognition systems, and career signals for contribution, maintenance, mentorship, and community co-support.
  • Develop a durable “society of craft” around AI by connecting practitioners across teams and making shared learning, peer review, and co-development part of the operating culture.
  • Measure adoption, reuse, contributor health, asset quality, time saved, duplication avoided, and community engagement.

What will help you be successful in this role

  • Senior experience in one or more of the following: InnerSource, open-source program leadership, developer relations, developer platform product management, AI platform strategy, engineering enablement, or technical community leadership.
  • Strong understanding of software engineering workflows, source code control, contribution models, code review, documentation, release practices, and component ownership.
  • Working knowledge of modern AI application patterns, including agents, reusable skills, prompt assets, evaluation patterns, retrieval, workflow automation, and production risk considerations.
  • Demonstrated ability to drive adoption of a new platform, practice, or community across teams that may not initially see sharing as part of their job.
  • Experience creating governance models that improve quality and trust without creating excessive bureaucracy.
  • Ability to influence senior leaders, HR partners, platform teams, security/risk partners, and individual contributors.

Preferred Attributes

  • Charismatic community builder who can make contributions feel prestigious, practical, and safe.
  • Strong product instincts for making reuse easy: discoverability, documentation, onboarding, trust signals, and sandboxing.
  • Credibility with engineers and AI practitioners, combined with communication skills to mobilize executives and HR partners.
  • Comfort operating in ambiguous cultural terrain where incentives, ownership, and local team priorities may conflict with enterprise reuse.
  • Bias toward lightweight governance, visible wins, and momentum-building rituals.
  • Deep belief in craft, mentorship, open collaboration, and shared technical excellence.

Measures of Success

  • Teams increasingly search for and reuse existing AI assets before building from scratch.
  • The repository contains high-quality, discoverable, well-owned, and actively maintained AI components and patterns.
  • The AI-driven inbox successfully maps business needs to reusable assets, maintainers, and implementation pathways.
  • Community participation grows across business units, with visible contributors, maintainers, mentors, and champions.
  • Leaders and HR recognize meaningful community contribution as a valued form of technical impact.
  • The organization reduces duplicated AI work, accelerates delivery, and develops a stronger shared sense of AI craft.

This role will work a hybrid schedule, 3 days/week in the San Ramon or New York City office.
