Job Description:

Johnson & Johnson is seeking a Manager, SAP BTP Application Development & AI Engineering to lead application development, AI innovation, and engineering delivery leveraging SAP Business Technology Platform (BTP) across enterprise business solutions to be located in Raritan, NJ.

This role manages a team of SAP BTP developers, AI engineers, and technical specialists responsible for designing, developing, deploying, and supporting enterprise applications, AI-enabled solutions, reusable services, and digital products. The Manager is accountable for engineering execution, solution delivery, team leadership, operational excellence, and adoption of SAP Business AI capabilities.

The role partners closely with product owners, architects, business stakeholders, SAP engineering teams, and external partners to deliver scalable cloud-native applications, AI-enabled business capabilities, and measurable business outcomes.

Duties & Responsibilities

SAP BTP Application Development

• Lead teams responsible for developing, testing, deploying, and supporting enterprise applications built on SAP Business Technology Platform (BTP).
• Drive development of cloud-native applications using CAP, RAP, SAP Build, SAP Build Code, SAP HANA Cloud, Workflow, Business Rules, APIs, and BTP services.
• Establish development standards, reusable application frameworks, engineering best practices, and coding standards.
• Deliver secure, scalable, resilient, and maintainable solutions aligned with enterprise architecture standards.
• Partner with business and product teams to translate requirements into technical solutions and business capabilities.
• Drive modernization and simplification of enterprise applications through reusable services, automation, and cloud-native architectures.

Application Engineering & Delivery Leadership

• Manage application development initiatives through planning, development, testing, deployment, and support.
• Lead agile teams and ensure successful delivery against scope, schedule, quality, and budget commitments.
• Manage risks, dependencies, technical debt, and delivery roadmaps.
• Promote engineering excellence through automation, quality assurance, DevSecOps, and continuous improvement practices.
• Establish measurable delivery metrics, KPIs, and operational performance indicators.

SAP Business AI & AI Engineering

• Lead implementation and adoption of SAP Business AI, Joule, Joule for Developers, and AI-enabled business capabilities.
• Develop and deploy Generative AI solutions supporting enterprise business processes and developer productivity.
• Collaborate with architects and engineering teams to operationalize AI capabilities within applications and business workflows.
• Support implementation of intelligent automation, conversational AI, and AI-assisted engineering capabilities.
• Track and communicate adoption metrics, productivity improvements, and business value realization.

ERP AI Software Development Lifecycle (AI SDLC)

• Drive adoption of AI-assisted software engineering capabilities across development teams.
• Support AI-enabled requirements engineering, application development, testing, documentation, release management, and production support.
• Promote reusable engineering accelerators and AI-powered development experiences.
• Measure improvements in engineering productivity, quality, cycle time, and delivery effectiveness.
• Support continuous innovation within software development practices.

Generative AI & Agentic AI Solutions

• Develop enterprise AI solutions leveraging Large Language Models (LLMs), Retrieval Augmented Generation (RAG), prompt orchestration, and AI agents.
• Implement secure AI integration patterns connecting enterprise applications, business processes, and enterprise knowledge sources.
• Support development and deployment of agent-based workflows and intelligent business assistants.
• Establish monitoring, observability, evaluation, guardrails, and governance capabilities for AI-enabled solutions.
• Collaborate with enterprise AI teams to implement scalable and responsible AI architectures.

Governance, Security & Compliance

• Ensure applications and AI solutions comply with enterprise standards for security, privacy, compliance, data governance, and responsible AI.
• Implement controls for authentication, authorization, monitoring, auditability, and lifecycle management.
• Partner with cybersecurity, privacy, architecture, and compliance organizations to ensure required controls are implemented.
• Support operational readiness, monitoring, reliability, and service excellence objectives.

Vendor & Technology Partnerships

• Collaborate with SAP and strategic technology partners to deliver innovative solutions and capabilities.
• Participate in proof-of-concepts, pilots, and technology evaluations.
• Assess emerging application development technologies, AI platforms, and engineering tools.
• Support vendor-delivered initiatives and ensure alignment with enterprise architecture and standards.

People Leadership

• Manage and mentor SAP BTP developers, AI engineers, technical leads, and contractor resources.
• Conduct performance management, career development planning, coaching, and succession planning activities.
• Build a culture of innovation, accountability, continuous learning, and engineering excellence.
• Communicate priorities, risks, progress, and outcomes to leadership and stakeholders.
• Integrate Johnson & Johnson's Credo and Leadership Imperatives into team goals, decisions, and development activities.

Required Qualifications

• 8+ years of technology experience with significant experience in enterprise application development and software engineering.
• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Software Engineering, Data Science, or a related field.
• Strong experience with SAP Business Technology Platform (BTP) and enterprise application development.
• Hands-on experience with CAP, RAP, SAP Build, SAP Build Code, Fiori/UI5, APIs, SAP HANA Cloud, Workflow, and Business Rules.
• Experience designing and delivering cloud-native enterprise applications and reusable business services.
• Knowledge of SAP Business AI, Joule, Generative AI, Agentic AI, and AI-assisted software engineering concepts.
• Experience leading application development teams and enterprise delivery initiatives.
• Strong understanding of ABAP, ABAP Cloud, RAP, CAP, APIs, extensibility frameworks, and application lifecycle management.
• Experience with Agile methodologies, DevOps, CI/CD pipelines, GitHub, testing automation, and release management.
• Strong understanding of enterprise architecture, security, governance, compliance, and responsible AI principles.
• Proven ability to influence and collaborate across global organizations and cross-functional teams.

Preferred Qualifications

• Certifications in SAP BTP, SAP Build, SAP AI, AI/ML, Cloud Development, or related technologies.
• Experience with SAP AI Foundation, Joule for Developers, RAG architectures, vector databases, AI agents, prompt engineering, observability, and evaluation frameworks.
• Experience implementing enterprise Generative AI solutions and intelligent business applications.
• Experience delivering developer productivity platforms, AI-enabled engineering capabilities, and automation solutions.
• Experience working with SAP and strategic technology partners to drive innovation and capability adoption.

The anticipated base pay range for this position is :

$102,000 - $175,950

Additional Description for Pay Transparency:
