Job Description

Overview

Microsoft’s Total Rewards organization is looking for a strategic and analytical global equity compliance professional to join our team as a Senior Global Stock Compliance Manager. This is an opportunity to help deliver and evolve Microsoft’s broad-based equity programs—including stock awards and the Employee Stock Purchase Plan (ESPP) across more than 90 countries while maintaining strong compliance, operational excellence, and employee experience.

This is a high-impact individual contributor role focused on global equity compliance, regulatory change, international reporting, and mobility taxation. You will partner across Tax, Legal, Finance, Payroll, Human Resources, Global Mobility, external advisors, and local subsidiaries to translate complex requirements into practical, scalable solutions.

This role requires a unique blend of global equity expertise, program and change management, analytical rigor, and clear communication. The successful candidate can navigate ambiguity, manage multiple time-sensitive workstreams, and lead stakeholders through regulatory and operational change by translating complex tax and regulatory considerations into actionable guidance.

Microsoft’s mission is to empower every person and every organization on the planet to achieve more. As employees, we come together with a growth mindset, innovate to empower others, and collaborate to realize our shared goals. Each day, we build on our values of respect, integrity, and accountability to create a culture of inclusion where everyone can thrive at work and beyond.

Responsibilities

Responsibilities

  • Monitor global tax, securities, employment, foreign exchange, data privacy, and other regulatory developments affecting equity programs; partner with internal and external counsel to assess impact and translate guidance into clear business, system, and operational requirements.
  • Lead implementation and change management for country-specific compliance requirements across Microsoft and minimally integrated companies by coordinating with local Finance, Payroll, and HR teams; assessing stakeholder and process impacts; driving decisions and readiness; and supporting adoption, execution, and issue resolution.
  • Manage stock and ESPP components of international securities, tax, and regulatory filings and reporting; coordinate data collection and validation with subsidiaries and external advisors to deliver accurate submissions on time and support audits and ad hoc country requests.
  • Manage equity mobility compliance, including tax sourcing and setup, mobility tracking, recurring controls and audits, and coordination with Global Mobility, Payroll, Tax, and third-party accounting firms for internationally mobile employees.
  • Maintain global equity compliance guidance, tax memos, award documentation, employee and subsidiary communications, training materials, and intranet content so stakeholders understand and consistently execute country requirements.
  • Strengthen compliance governance through documented controls, recurring compliance calendars, risk and issue tracking, data-quality reviews, and process improvements that increase scalability, accuracy, and operational resilience.
  • Serve as a global equity compliance subject matter expert and trusted advisor; contribute requirements, test cases, and business acceptance testing for equity-system enhancements and provide cross-functional support during annual rewards, broad-based vesting, year-end, and other critical events.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Business, Finance, Accounting, Human Resources, Law, or related field AND 6+ years of experience in global equity compensation, stock administration, tax, compliance, finance, human resources, or related work OR equivalent experience.
  • 5+ years experience managing global equity compliance, stock administration, or mobile employee equity taxation in a multinational company, accounting firm, law firm, or consulting environment.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Certified Equity Professional (CEP) designation or progress toward certification.
  • Experience supporting broad-based equity programs across multiple jurisdictions, including international securities filings, tax reporting, non-U.S. payroll, and globally mobile employees.
  • Advanced data-analysis skills, with experience using equity administration platforms and improving controls, processes, or reporting through technology and automation, including AI.
  • Demonstrated ability to influence without authority, build trusted partnerships across functions and geographies, and deliver high-quality outcomes in a fast-paced and ambiguous environment.
  • Demonstrated program and change management experience delivering complex, cross-functional work under strict deadlines; assessing stakeholder impacts; driving readiness and adoption; and maintaining strong attention to detail, data integrity, and risk management.
  • written, verbal, analytical, and presentation skills, with the ability to translate technical tax and regulatory requirements into clear guidance for diverse stakeholders.
