Job Description

Your impact here will be immediate and visible. You will ship features that directly change how customers run their businesses. The team is small enough that your decisions carry real weight and large enough that you will always have someone to learn from. As a senior engineer, you will set the technical direction for the projects you own and mentor the engineers around you.

AI is not a side experiment on this team. It is a core part of the stack. You will build orchestration layers for multi-agent systems, retrieval pipelines, workflow automation, and decision intelligence, all as everyday engineering primitives. You will integrate foundation models, customer data sources, APIs, and existing applications into cohesive AI experiences, then optimize for latency, reliability, observability, cost, and security.

We operate across security, observability, search, and governance, but you do not need a background in any of them. What you need is curiosity, strong technical judgment, a bias for action, a desire to work on the bleeding edge of technology, and a drive to solve ambiguous problems at scale. This is a team of engineers and scientists who care about craft, customer outcomes, and having fun doing the work.
Growth here is by design. We assign projects based on what will stretch you. At the SDE III level, that means owning complex, cross-team technical challenges end-to-end, leading design for systems that enterprise customers depend on, and turning the patterns you discover into reusable accelerators that scale the entire FDE practice. A broad mix of experience levels and a genuine culture of mentorship means you will level up fast.

About the team
The Field Innovation team is a Forward Deployed Engineering (FDE) group inside AWS. We work directly with customers and AWS service teams to build next-generation AI systems that help the world's largest enterprises get faster return on value from security, search, observability, and governance services.

We are hiring senior builders who want to work at the intersection of customer impact and cutting-edge AI. You will embed with customers to understand how they operate, then partner with service teams to design and ship production-grade products powered by large language models, agent frameworks, retrieval-augmented generation, and AI-assisted development tools. From day one your code will be in production, and your architectural decisions will shape how fortune 500 enterprises operate.

- Bachelor's degree in computer science or equivalent
- Experience in machine learning, data mining, information retrieval, statistics or natural language processing, or experience with Machine Learning and Large Language Model fundamentals, including architecture, training/inference lifecycles, and optimization of model execution

- Experience with the AWS platform, web services, software development, or related technologie
- Experience working in a customer-facing environment
