Helsing is a defence AI company. Our mission is to protect our democracies. We aim to achieve technological leadership, so that open societies can continue to make sovereign decisions and control their ethical standards.
As democracies, we believe we have a special responsibility to be thoughtful about the development and deployment of powerful technologies like AI. We take this responsibility seriously.
We are an ambitious and committed team of engineers, AI specialists and customer-facing programme managers. We are looking for mission-driven people to join our European teams, and apply their skills to solve the most complex and impactful problems. We embrace an open and transparent culture that welcomes healthy debates on the use of technology in defence, its benefits, and its ethical implications.
As an Systems Engineer for Weapon Integration, you will drive all weapon integration activities for our advanced aerial platforms. In this role, you will be responsible for leading the end-to-end integration of a diverse range of weapon systems across multiple domains, ensuring seamless functionality with the core mission and avionics systems. You will act as technical authority for weapon integration, providing guidance and mentorship to a dedicated team of engineers, and driving the successful delivery of this critical capability.
Own the weapon integration programme across all relevant domains, delivering a coherent system-of-systems that meets agreed performance, safety and schedule commitments
Define and maintain the weapon integration roadmap, taking capabilities from concept definition through ground test, flight test and final qualification
Integrate weapons with the aircraft's mission system and avionics architecture, covering data buses, stores management, software interfaces and safe-separation requirements
Author the technical specifications, interface control documents (ICDs) and statements of work that govern delivery by internal teams, suppliers and subcontractors
Shape the verification and validation strategy, and mentor engineers across the team so that integration knowledge is shared rather than concentrated
Have integrated weapons such as missiles, bombs or rockets onto fixed-wing or rotary-wing aircraft, and seen that capability through to qualification
Understand mission systems, avionic architectures and the data bus and stores-management standards that connect them, including MIL-STD-1760 or equivalent
Have worked across the full engineering lifecycle, from requirements capture through verification to in-service support
Use engineering tools for requirements management, modelling and simulation as part of your everyday practice
Communicate technical findings clearly to colleagues, customers and suppliers, in writing and in person
Meet the conditions for an extended German security clearance (Ü2/Ü3), given the sensitive nature of the programme, and communicate comfortably in English and German as the working language
Note: We operate in an industry where women, as well as other minority groups, are systematically under-represented. We encourage you to apply even if you don't meet all the listed qualifications; ability and impact cannot be summarised in a few bullet points.
Have contributed to flight test campaigns and the associated safety and certification evidence
Competitive salary and VSOP options

Learning: €500/£450 yearly allowance
