The Role

Your role

As a UI Design Associate, you’ll help create digital experiences that are intuitive, accessible, and engaging for customers. You’ll turn ideas, requirements, and user insights into interface designs that help people complete tasks efficiently and confidently.

Working alongside experienced designers, researchers, product teams, and engineers, you’ll contribute to products from early concepts through implementation. Your work will focus on translating customer needs into clear visual designs, interactive workflows, and reusable design components that create consistent experiences across digital products.

This role combines hands-on design execution with collaborative problem solving. You’ll spend time creating wireframes, prototypes, and high-fidelity designs, while also partnering with teammates to review feedback, test ideas, and refine experiences based on customer and business needs.

Through the Early Careers experience at Kyndryl, you’ll strengthen your design, communication, and technology skills while building a portfolio of real-world work. You’ll gain exposure to enterprise-scale digital products, modern design systems, accessibility standards, and AI-enabled design tools that support the design process.



What you will do

Design intuitive digital experiences

  • Create user interface designs for web and mobile experiences, including screens, layouts, components, and interaction states

  • Translate requirements and user insights into wireframes, visual concepts, and interactive prototypes

  • Design workflows that help customers navigate tasks clearly and efficiently

  • Contribute to experiences that are visually cohesive, accessible, and easy to use

Build and apply design systems

  • Apply established design systems, patterns, and standards across products and platforms

  • Create reusable interface components that support consistency and scalability

  • Maintain design assets and documentation to support efficient collaboration

  • Ensure designs align with accessibility and usability best practices

Collaborate across teams

  • Partner with UX designers, researchers, engineers, and product teams throughout the design process

  • Participate in design reviews and incorporate feedback from stakeholders and teammates

  • Balance customer needs, business objectives, and technical considerations when developing solutions

  • Communicate design decisions through presentations, prototypes, and visual storytelling

Test, learn, and improve

  • Review implemented experiences to verify alignment with approved designs

  • Iterate designs based on feedback, testing insights, and changing requirements

  • Identify opportunities to simplify workflows and improve usability

  • Explore emerging design tools and methods, including AI-enabled design solutions, to enhance productivity and creativity

Learn and grow

  • Build expertise in user interface design, accessibility, design systems, and digital product development

  • Learn from experienced professionals through coaching, feedback, and hands-on project work

  • Develop a portfolio of customer-focused design experiences

  • Expand your skills across design, technology, and collaborative problem solving

Required skills and experience

  • Bachelor's degree, associate degree, or equivalent practical experience completed recently or expected before start date

  • Academic, internship, volunteer, or project experience creating digital designs, visual concepts, or interactive experiences

  • Experience using design tools such as Figma, Sketch, Adobe Creative Cloud, or similar platforms

  • Ability to create wireframes, mockups, prototypes, or other visual design deliverables

  • Understanding of visual design principles including layout, typography, colour, and hierarchy

  • Ability to organize work, manage deadlines, and incorporate feedback into design solutions

  • Demonstrated ability to collaborate effectively on team-based projects

  • Interest in creating accessible, customer-focused digital experiences



Preferred skills and experience

  • Portfolio demonstrating UI design, visual design, product design, or digital project work

  • Exposure to design systems, component libraries, or accessibility standards

  • Experience conducting usability reviews or incorporating user feedback into designs

  • Familiarity with responsive design for web and mobile platforms

  • Experience using AI-enabled design or productivity tools as part of a creative workflow

The compensation range for the position in the U.S. is -

$63,360 to $114,120 based on a full-time schedule.  

Your actual compensation may vary depending on your geography, job-related skills and experience.  For part time roles, the compensation will be adjusted appropriately. The pay or salary range will not be below any applicable state, city or local minimum wage requirement.

There is a different applicable compensation range for the following work locations:

California (San Francisco Bay Area): $76,080 to $137,040

California (All Other): $69,720 to $125,640

Colorado: $63,360 to $114,120

Massachusetts$63,360 to $125,640

New York City: $76,080 to $137,040

Washington: $69,720 to $125,640

Washington DC:$69,720 to $125,640

This position will be eligible for Kyndryl’s discretionary annual bonus program, based on performance and subject to the terms of Kyndryl’s applicable plans. You may also receive a comprehensive benefits package which includes medical and dental coverage, disability, retirement benefits, paid leave, and paid time off.  Note: If this is a sales commission eligible role, you will be eligible to participate in a sales commission plan in lieu of the annual discretionary bonus program.
