Manager - Analytics and Data Science, GIAI

Job Summary

This world class leading Bank is seeking for Manager, Analytics and Data Science for Group Internal Audit’s Audit Analytics function. The function has used analytics and digital to improve the quality of audits and achieve efficiencies. The qualified individual will assist in the execution of analytics strategy and help drive innovation in the function. The function objective is to enhance the department’s data analytics capability, innovate and optimise the use of data throughout the audit cycle including the development of effective continuous monitoring strategies. 

Key Responsibilities

This individual will be responsible for the following: 
•    Drive innovation, identify risks and gain insights across the bank’s audit risk areas using analytics.
•    Contribute to the design, development, testing and documentation of analytical procedures (includes data sourcing, data preparation, data transformation, and modelling) to assist in population and scoping analysis, sampling, testing, and issue impact justification 
•    Provide insight and guidance on the interpretation of reported exceptions/analytics outputs so that appropriate actions can be taken by the audit teams 
•    Providing insights and recommendations using visualisations (fewer words and tables of data) to tell impactful and influential stories for senior management.
•    Designing and implementing effective MI dashboards, leveraging data analytical solutions.
•    Training the function on improving data quality and embrace agile philosophy for continuous improvement.
•    Work closely with key stakeholders to understand data flow, data points, and advise on how they can be leverage in the design of data analytical solution.
•    Champion and train the function on improving data quality and insight 
•    Embrace the agile philosophy and continuously seek feedback for continuous improvement

•    Advanced SQL including query optimization, window functions, CTEs, complex joins and performance tuning.
•    Advanced Python for data manipulation and analysis using Pandas, NumPy and related libraries. 
•    Experience building reusable analytical solutions, automation scripts and data pipelines.
•    Understanding of relational databases, data models, data lineage and data governance principles. 
•    Experience working with structured and semi-structured data formats (CSV, JSON, XML, API-based data sources).
•    Dashboard Design using Tableau, Power BI, Superset
•    Proven experience using analytics platforms such as Dataiku, Alteryx, KNIME or similar tools to automate data preparation, analysis and reporting workflows
•    Knowledge of machine learning and data science would be advantageous 
•    Analytical problem-solving skills

•    Written and verbal communication skills (in English)

Qualifications

•    A minimum of 8 years of experience in a data analysis role preferably with internal audit, a risk function, a control function and/or previous experience in analysing business processes in a financial services environment 
•    Previous experience in audit, risk and fraud areas would be a significant advantage 
•    Strong expertise in data analysis and ETL; good understanding of data systems and data query and coding language methods, such as SQL, Python and/or R
•    Proven experience sourcing, cleansing, transforming and integrating large, complex datasets from multiple systems to create analysis-ready data assets. 
•    Strong understanding of data quality assessment, reconciliation and validation techniques to ensure the accuracy and reliability of analytical outputs.
•    Experience with metrics and reporting using visualisation tools such as Tableau, Power BI or similar tools
•    Good understanding of analytics and techniques, and proven ability to understand problem statements and identify opportunities for use of analytics. 
•    The proven ability to tell stories with data, producing insight that leads to more effective decision making and change delivery. 
•    Advocate improvements in data quality by influencing and training the function.
•    Knowledge of basic statistics (Correlation, Regression) and data science concepts
•    Outstanding analytical skills with an ability to multi-task and manage competing priorities with a track record in creative and successful problem-solving 
•    Ability to operate with minimal supervision, independently break down ambiguous business problems and define an analytical approach to address them. 
•    Demonstrated ability to exercise judgement in prioritising analytical work based on risk, business impact and available data.
•    Highly entrepreneurial with a high level of energy, dedication and an unrelenting drive to deliver value 
•    Outstanding communication skills, both oral and written 
•    Ability to lead and contribute within a Global Multi-disciplinary team and be a strong team player 
•    A Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Management Information Systems or Business (e.g., Accounting, Business Administration, Economics, Finance, Management, Statistics) is preferred
