Senior Software Engineer - Trust Experience and Compliance team

The Trust Experience and Compliance (TEC) team is helping transform how trust and compliance are built into Windows by developing AI-driven solutions that simplify complex engineering processes and enable teams to build trustworthy products at scale.

We are looking for a Senior Software Engineer to design, build, and deliver AI-powered engineering solutions that improve how Windows engineering teams navigate trust and compliance workflows. You will apply modern AI capabilities and strong software engineering fundamentals to transform complex processes, improve engineering efficiency, and help teams build Windows experiences responsibly at scale.

In this role, you will work across engineering and product disciplines, solve complex technical problems, and help shape the technical direction of AI-enabled solutions used across Windows. We’re looking for an experienced software engineer to join the Windows and Devices organization. In this role, the ideal candidate will-

• Design, build, and ship scalable software and AI-powered solutions that transform how Windows engineering teams navigate trust, compliance, and engineering workflows.
• Apply modern AI technologies to real-world engineering problems, simplifying complex processes and improving developer productivity and experiences.
• Partner with engineering and product/program management teams across Windows + Devices and Microsoft to define requirements, develop solutions, and deliver customer and business impact.
• Drive engineering excellence through thoughtful design, implementation, testing, measurement, reliability, and operational quality.
• Provide technical leadership across projects, influence technical direction, mentor other engineers, and contribute to a culture of continuous learning and open collaboration. 

Required/Minimum Qualifications:

• Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or related technical field AND 4+ years technical engineering experience with coding in languages including, but not limited to, C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, or Python.
  • OR equivalent experience.

Additional or preferred qualifications

Other Requirements: Ability to meet Microsoft, customer and/or government security screening requirements are required for this role. These requirements include but are not limited to the following specialized security screenings:

• Microsoft Cloud Background Check: This position will be required to pass the Microsoft Cloud background check upon hire/transfer and every two years thereafter. 

Preferred Qualifications:

• 6+ years of software design and development experience using one or more programming languages such as C, C++, C#, Java, or Python.
• Experience applying AI technologies to real-world software solutions, engineering workflows, or process transformation.
• Proficiency in software design, debugging, and problem-solving skills.
• Experience designing for reliability, testing, measurement, and operational quality throughout the software development lifecycle.
• Ability to navigate ambiguity, balance competing priorities, and drive projects from concept through delivery.
• Effective communication and collaboration skills, including the ability to influence technical decisions across teams and communicate technical concepts to varied audiences.
• Experience providing technical leadership, mentoring engineers, and contributing to engineering excellence.

Software Engineering IC4 - The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $119,800 - $234,700 per year. There is a different range applicable to specific work locations, within the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, and the base pay range for this role in those locations is USD $160,200 - $261,000 per year.
