In the Sr. NPI Engineer role, you will lead the industrialization and production launch of wiring harnesses. Robust harness systems are crucial to maintaining reliable electrical system functionality. You will have direct impact on the success of creating a constellation of communication satellites that will be capable of reaching and providing broadband internet to the most remote areas of the world.

Key job responsibilities
Wire Harness NPI leads the transition of complex wire harness products from design to high volume manufacturing

Develop and own the end-to-end wire harness NPI strategy, aligning with design engineering, supplier manufacturing, quality and supply chain teams to meet product lifecycle milestones

Drive Design for Manufacturing (DFM) and Design for Test (DFT) requirements

Optimize wire harness fabrication, assembly, and test processes to maximize yield and reduce costs, including in advanced/novel packaging

Lead cross-functional teams to resolve technical and supply constraints during the NPI phase, ensuring a seamless transfer to mass production

Guarantee that products meet quality standards and reliability specifications before product release in conjunction with the Supplier Quality team

A day in the life
As a Sr. NPI Engineer on the Harness Design team, you will be the technical authority on interconnect and cabling solutions. You will provide technical leadership to the team while developing novel space hardware. You will play an integral part of gathering requirements for harness development as well as providing critical input for successful development of avionics hardware.

Basic qualifications

- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering or a related field
- 5+ years of demonstrated experience taking products from engineering development through prototype, qualification, and production
- 5+ years experience working with external suppliers to develop/select components for spacecraft design or related industries
- Strong understanding of DFM/DFA principles and manufacturing process development
- Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, engineering drawings, BOMs, and specifications
- Experience developing work instructions, manufacturing processes, tooling, fixtures, and inspection methods
- Experience with root-cause analysis and corrective action using methods such as 5-Why, 8D, and fishbone analysis
- Strong cross-functional communication skills and ability to work effectively with Design Engineering, Quality, Supply Chain and Manufacturing

Preferred qualifications

- Experience with spacecraft, satellites, launch vehicles, or other high-reliability hardware
- Experience with aerospace/space wire harness workmanship standards, such as NASA-STD-8739.4, IPC/WHMA-A-620, or equivalent

The base salary range for this position is listed below. Your Amazon package will include sign-on payments and restricted stock units (RSUs). Final compensation will be determined based on factors including experience, qualifications, and location.
