Staff Product Manager - Data Supply Expansion

About the Team
Our Network Enablement and Access team’s mission is to unlock the potential of the Plaid network by broadening and deepening our connection to data partners. We do this by providing solutions that allow our data partners to be part of the network and by providing best in class connections. By expanding and improving our connections to data providers, we are able to strengthen the Plaid network while also enabling great products and experiences.

Plaid's data access platform owns the deep-infrastructure layer that determines how reliably and efficiently data flows from our data providers to our customers. As the data supply network evolves, we are building the new platform capabilities that keep it strong: ensuring that our traffic stays smooth for the providers we depend on, building improved detection capabilities that enable us to catch issues as they happen, and evolving our data access toolkit to be more efficient over time.

About the role:

You will decide what data Plaid goes after next. Bank data got us here, but the picture our customers need now includes things we do not have: property tax, merchant and SKU-level purchases, utilities, tax, payroll. Some of it we should build with our own technology. Some of it we should partner or pay for. Someone has to make those calls with conviction and a real business case behind them, and that person is you.

This is a 0-1 role. You will start with two to three engineers and a mandate to prove something real: Plaid's first non-bank data offering, live, inside your first year. Along the way you will set the multi-year strategy for supply expansion, define what quality and completeness mean for data types nobody here has worked with before, and build the internal case that turns a promising vertical into a funded bet.

Responsibilities:

• Set the multi-year strategy for non-bank data supply, grounded in what our products and customers need rather than what is technically interesting

• Build and quickly execute against the one year plan - showcasing fast momentum and impact

• Force-rank new data types across the company and own the business case for each, including the ones you recommend against

• Make and defend build, buy, and partner decisions alongside data partnerships, corporate development, and legal

• Ship Plaid's first non-bank data offerings, as internal insight inputs or externalized to customers

• Partner with engineering and data teams on the taxonomies, quality controls, and coverage metrics that new data types require

• Define the metrics for supply expansion and report progress to leadership and cross-functional stakeholders

Qualifications:

• 8+ years of experience, including 5+ in product management or equivalent founder/operator roles.

• Analytical rigor: You are comfortable working directly with data, cost models, and operational metrics to make and defend complex decisions.

• Deep technical fluency: You can reason about large-scale systems, load management, API platforms, and machine-learning models and engage engineers as a close product partner.

• Platform & systems thinking mindset: You think in systems, and design for reuse and the long term.

• Leadership, stakeholder influence, and communication :You should be comfortable working cross-functionally (engineering, data, product) and influencing without direct authority. You must be able to explain complex technical ideas to non-technical stakeholders, drive alignment, and make trade-offs crystal clear
